3 BARRIERS TO EFFECTIVE PLANNING:
1. Demands on the Manager's Time
Managers often feel as though they face a continuous stream of problems from the time they arrive at work until they leave. Although this constant troubleshooting may seem to leave few opportunities for planning, the hectic nature of the manager's day in itself suggests that planning is very much needed. Through better planning such as policies, rules, and the like, managers can develop operational systems that are more effective and less problematic and demanding of their time.
2. Ambiguous and Uncertain Operating Environments
Managers who are uncomfortable with ambiguity may find it difficult and frustrating to plan under conditions of uncertainty. Yet while it may be difficult to develop plans under such circumstances, effective managers take an effort to do so. Organizations that operate in rapidly changing and complex environments often find that planning provides a mechanism for coping with such conditions.
3. Resistance to Change
Organizational members may associate planning with a need to change the way they do their jobs. Their hesitancy to change may discourage them from initiating the planning process. Given the current focus on quality and continuous improvement, resistance to change can have very detrimental results for the organization in the long term.
4 WAYS TO REDUCE THE BARRIERS:
1. Learn to Apply the Managerial Functions Better
-Learn to identify what is really important as opposed to what is urgent but not important. Much time could be saved by not paying attention to urgent but not important things.
-Use well-thought out goals, policies, procedures, and rules.
-Delegate authority well.
-Communicate expectations clearly.
-Teach employees to be more self-guiding.
2. Involve Employees in Decision Making
Managers should solicit the opinions and views of their employees when formulating plans, and they should encourage individual members of the organization to communicate about the planning efforts of the unit and the organization. Discouraging employees from sharing information that might be important to the planning process will result in less effective organizational plans.
3. Take Advantage of a Diversity of Views
Organizations that encourage a wide range of different ideas and views and have learned to manage diverse groups are more likely to produce plans that are comprehensive and fully developed. It is imperative to learn to manage diverse work groups well.
4. Encourage Strategic Thinking
Employees should be provided with the training necessary to develop strategic thinking skills and given the opportunity to practice those skills in their work environment. Further, individuals should be rewarded for thinking strategically when developing their plans.
Im my opinion, the most common and difficult barrier to solve is demands on the manager's time. This relates to aspects of time compared to the heavy workload. Time available to manage the workload is incompatible with the need to be disposed of by a manager. It is because in the world of management, manager workload increased from time to time.

Hersey and Blanchard's Situational Leadership Theory (SLT)
Hersey and Blanchard has developed the Situational Leadership Theory (SLT) that examines the interaction between the two leadership behaviors, follower’s readiness and leadership styles. According to this theory, successful leaders should change their leadership styles based on the maturity (the capacity to set high but attainable goals, willingness and ability to take responsibility for the task, and relevant education and/or experience of an individual or a group for the task) of the people they're leading and it also depends on the task, job or function that needs to be accomplished. Using this theory, leaders should be able to place more or less emphasis on the task, and more or less emphasis on the relationships with the people they're leading, depending on what's needed to get the job done successfully.
There are two leadership behaviors in SLT:
1. Leadership behavior
Based on the concern for the task and the concern for the employee. To maximize employee performance, leadership behavior must use a style appropriate to employee’s development or readiness.
2. Readiness
The extent to which a subordinate possesses the ability, knowledge, and skills, job experience, and willingness to complete a specific task.
According to Hersey and Blanchard, there are four main leadership styles:
1. Telling style. The leaders provide specific instructions and closely supervise performance. They are primarily focused on giving explicit guidelines, setting goals, and providing structure. They tell their people exactly what to do, and how to do it.
2. Selling style. The leaders explain decisions and provide opportunities for clarification. They still provide information and direction, but there's more communication with followers. They "sell" their message to get the team on board.
3. Participating style. The leader shares ideas and maintains two-way communication to encourage and support the skills subordinates have developed. Leaders focus more on the relationship and less on direction. The leader works with the team, and shares decision-making responsibilities.
4. Delegating style. The leader provides subordinates with few task or relations behaviors. Leaders pass most of the responsibility onto the follower or group. The leaders still monitor progress, but they're less involved in decisions.
In conclusion, no one style is considered optimal for all leaders to use all the time. Effective leaders need to be flexible, and must adapt themselves according to the situation.

Moo Cow Frozen Yogurt

Ever heard of froyo before, also known as frozen yogurt? Well, have you tasted it before? You really should. As rich as ice-cream, with a certain tartness to the taste, to give you that extra kick in every spoonful.
Haa, I haven't told you the best thing about froyo. Because it's yogurt, froyo is made using milk, instead of cream. Which means it has a much lower fat content than regular ol' ice-cream, without sacrificing that creamy taste.
Who said you can't have the best of both worlds?
With this in mind, I say it's time you headed over The Gardens@Midvalley, Sunway Pyramid, Wangsa Walk, The Curve or One Utama, for a taste of this creamy low-fat delicacy. Compared to its other froyo competitors, Moo Cow seems to be the most value-for-money joint, allowing you to have a generous cup with one free topping of your choice for as low as RM9.90 (RM10.90 for seasonal flavours). I recommend ordering the orginal flavour for that pure, yoghurt taste.

Squeeze More Time In
The trick to maximising your time in a day isn’t tied to a time machine, neither is it a matrix type concept. And while I’m constantly hear everyone sigh “if only I had more hours in a day” realistically it’s never going to happen. So instead, all you need is a better plan to spend those 24 hours.
1. Cut down your FB time.
Have you had that moment where you’ve logged on and told yourself “oh I’ll just check if I’ve got notifications”. Then you find out that your friend got a new picture and he said something funny. Before you know it, you’ve spent hours clicking in interesting things. Social media takes up more time than you think. So cut your daily time by a third and you would have gained more than three hours by the end of the week.
2. Get your workout in throughout the day.
Instead of having to allocate long hours of workout time. Try to slip in some workout throughout the day. This way, you keep your energy up and you burn those calories off.
3. Set a time limit.
Giving yourself a deadline ensures that you don’t drag your feet with any and every thing you’ve got to complete for that day. It also teaches you to work effectively.
4. Ignore the beep.
The blessing and curse of being connected 24-7. Sometimes it’s worth turning a deaf ear to your inbox, phone calls, BBM, or even alarm that don’t really need your attention in the moment.
5. Tweak your movie time.
Stick to movies when you’re trying to maximise your time. A movie is longer, hence giving you a proper break, and you’re less likely to do them back to back.

Malacca River Cruise

Saturday, 29th October
It the night and we all household are hungry. So we decided to go out for dinner together. After maghrib prayers, in the 8 pm, we went out. We go to the shop near the river cruise. Having arrived at the restaurant, we order our food. I eat chicken rice. It chicken rice was so delicious although much less expensive. This is because the place has become the focus of tourists who came to Malacca. Once full, we decided to cruise up there. A total of 10 tickets purchased (RM10 per person). We lined up waiting to board the cruise. The situation is quite crowded as the night, there were many delegations who visited this area. We went into cruise when our turn comes. The driver of the cruise took us to see the beauty in Malacca at night. The situation is very beautiful. Additional lights illuminate the colorful coastal areas of the Malacca River.
About 30 minutes (plus minus), our journey on the cruise end. We have a walk around the Kampung Morten Melaka Heritage Village then. Here there are many houses built over hundreds years and beautifully decorated. For your information, Kampung Morten is one of the most popular tourist attractions besides Malacca River Cruise. Well, the clock shown at 10.30 pm and we decided to return to the residential colleges because we have curfew at 11pm. We feel good tonight and hope that we are still to be able to spend time together again.
Passion

On this entry, I would like to discuss issues of interest. My sister and I have the same interest that is going to the movies. If we have any leisure time, we both come out together to watch the new movies at the cinema. Sometimes we also invite cousins to watch it once. The places that become our focus are KLCC, Wangsa Walk, and the latest one, KLFC (Kuala Lumpur Festival City).
Usually after going to the movies, we will drop into Tutti Frutti or Moo Cow restaurant to enjoy delicious frozen yogurt. We spend time together and chatting while eating yogurt. For your information, frozen yogurt is great because it has less fat and good for those who adopt a balanced diet. So you all can get it these frozen yogurt at any branch in the Malaysia.
Sunday, 6th November
Today is a day that all Muslims celebrate Hari Raya AlidilAdha. Some people went to their hometown, while some of them did not go back as a routine work that can not be avoided. My family did not return our hometown this time because they want to make room for my younger sister to focus in her SPM examination which will begin soon. Even so, my aunt from Taiping, Perak, came at our home. We make them with 'pulut kuning', 'rendang ayam' and 'nasi impit'. We talked long because long time no see. In the evening, they went back home. So my sister and I decided to go to KLFC to eat frozen yogurt. This time we tried the brand new frozen yogurt, the Gelato Fruity. It tastes delicious too. In addition, we buy a cake from Secret Recipe, which mine is Strawberry-Marshmallow Cheese, and my sister choose Chocolate Lava.
Your Friend’s Been Stolen?
Friends, especially really good friend, can find themselves a tad bit possessive and territorial. While this seems terribly absurd, it is the truth. It is totally normal and understandable since you spend so much time with this other person and care for them dearly. Plus, with friendship comes two very strong traits that come into question with ‘poachers’-loyalty and history. But accusing someone of stealing a friend is a big deal and before you throw around an accusing finger, you should really consider a matter closely. Are you feeling this way because you’re just feeling jealous? Are they getting together over things you don’t like anyway? Is there a deliberate attempt to keep you out of the friendship? So be honest with yourself. If you can’t see things objectively, ask for an unbiased opinion and give them the full story.
You can either follow this two ways if you want her back.
Addressed it head on. It’s best to go to your friend, instead of the actual ‘poacher’. Your goal is to maintain a friendship, not pick a fight! Try to speak calmly and say things like “I feel like you has being really cold towards me. It’s made me feel really left out.” By focusing on how you’re feeling, you shy away from being accusatory, which can make your friend defensive.
OR
Try including yourself in the circle. Instead of seeming desperate or trying to forcefully fit in, you’re suggested to organising a day out and including the both of them and possibly even more people. If the ‘napper’ is just lacking attention, introducing her to more friends will help her release her latch on your bestie.
TRY YOUR BEST! ;D

Confession

As starters, I have to admit that when I got this assignment I was terrified because I just do not know what to share to others. I am not trying to say that I am not interesting, well that is just not true, its just that I love someone to get to know the real me by not just reading my posts, but to know basically about the ordinary me. I was born on December 26th, 1992 and it falls on Saturday itself. I was given with then name Nurul Atiqah binti Sezali and my friends call me Atiqah.
Myself. Well, the good part is, I love to watch movies with sister and cousins. Just to be honest, every month I will go out with them to watch the new movies. It is just my favourite thing to do.
Family. My hero in life has to be the one and only, my father, Sezali bin Md Isa who will be turning 54 years old early next year. My heroin, my mother, Rosinah binti Haji Zainon who is going to be 51 years old. Through sickness and in health, she was always there, and through heartbreaks and happy moments, she would stand by me. Basically, I have two siblings and I am the first child. My younger sister is Nurul Atirah, 17 who is currently taking her Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM).
Friends. I believe people come and go but true friends will remain with you. Friendship is what I cherish most in life. You will be lonely without them. They are the one who will be there to share moments with you. It does not matter if you are happy, excited, sad and whatever feelings that you are having. They will be the one who would listen to what you want to say even they are tired to do so. I may know lots of people but I can count my true friends and I love them dearly.
Education. After I graduated my high school, I continued my Matriculation in Accounting in MARA College Kuala Nerang, Kedah. I spent two semesters over there and I had great experiences over there. I had learnt a lot and truthfully, I miss it over there. I am now persuading my Degree in Business Administration (Hons) Finance in Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in Malacca City. It is a brand new year and a good start for me. I love my life over here. It is good to meeting up new friends and I am looking for more things in life to happen to me.
